Hello Everyone,
My name is Justin Matuszewski and I am the Liturgy Coordinator in Catholic Campus Ministry. I am a senior at DePaul double-majoring in accounting and finance.
The team I am in charge of is the Liturgy Team. It is a team of dedicated student volunteers who help plan our Sunday Night Mass. Sunday Night Mass is a student-led liturgy at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Chicago. We invite students from DePaul and members of the community to come and join together in the tradition of the Catholic Mass. The Liturgy Team consists of myself (the Liturgy Coordinator), and coordinators for each ministry. Each coordinator organizes students from DePaul to help as Hospitality Ministers, Altar Servers, Lectors, and Eucharistic Ministers.
There are so many things that make Sunday Night Mass special. I think it starts with people. They are loving, kind, and inspire me to dive deeper into my Catholic faith. Secondly, the music at our Mass is the best I have ever heard in a church. The choir consists of students of all majors (including music) from DePaul who come together to sing at Mass. They play a broad range of songs from Catholic classics to more contemporary hymns. They even sing songs in different languages which offer a unique insight into how different people across the world celebrate the Mass. Lastly, our presider’s homily every week is geared specifically towards students. They are engaging, funny, and an inspiring way to end a hard week of classes.
As a team, we are always in need of volunteers to help run our Mass. No matter what you are interested in, we have a ministry for you. It is a great way to get involved, meet new people, and continue growing your faith. We look forward to seeing you there.
God Bless,
Justin Matuszewski
